Outdoor adventures aren’t always easy, but they’re worth it

Outdoor adventures aren’t always easy, but they’re worth it

Raise your hand if you’ve ever been on an adventure, and suddenly, everything feels a bit too much.

Maybe it’s the wind biting at your skin, the sun beating down harder than expected, or the unexpected torrential rain (seriously, is the weather person ever right?)

You feel uncomfortable, frustrated, and perhaps even a bit down. This adventure was supposed to be fun, damn it!

It’d be easy to admit defeat, pack up and head home where the couch is comfortable, the coffee is warm and everything is within reach.

But, it’s in those moments – when nature pushes us to our limits – that we discover what we’re really made of.

By embracing the discomfort, whether it’s hiking up a steep trail, pitching a tent in high winds, sleeping on rocky ground, or god forbid forgetting to bring loo roll – there’s something deeply satisfying about being uncomfortable, pushing through it,  and coming out stronger.

The hike may be steep but my gosh, you made it to the summit! The wind might be having a laugh, but hey, you got that tent to stay put. The ground may be rocky, but it’ll make you appreciate having a comfy bed at home. And forgetting loo roll – yeesh, tough luck. But, you’ll learn how resourceful you can be.

Getting uncomfortable outdoors teaches us what we’re made of. Sometimes, the weather turns, and you’re stuck in a downpour without a jacket. Sometimes, the path is harder than expected. It’s in these moments of uncertainty that we learn to stay calm, solve problems, and move forward.

Nothing reminds you how little control you have in this one wild and precious life like being out in the wild. Every strong gust of wind, every time you get lost, every forgotten roll of toilet paper is a reminder that life is full of surprises.

So next time things don’t go quite to plan on your adventure, embrace the discomfort. Because that’s where growth happens.

Alright, that’s enough sappiness from us today.

Go out and get uncomfortable!
